Added Correction: There were 2 politicians in NYC to oppose the bombing of Gaza, Assemblywoman Inez Barron of Brooklyn also opposed it publicly.
The Viva Palestina convoy kicked off at the House of the Lords Church in Brooklyn, NY.
One of the many highlights was New York City Councilman Charles Barron who demanded the release of Cynthia McKinney who is still being detained in Israel after being captured in international waters off the coast of the Gaza strip. Councilman Barron was the only NYC politician to protest the massacre in Gaza in December and January, but as he explained, “Don’t think of me as a politician, I am an elected revolutionary!”
He will be joining us on our convoy to Gaza and we hope to ask him a few questions for the Sitch readers! If you have any questions you would like to ask him, post them in the comments below.
